Raucous Writers Afternoon Teatime

Raucous:  meaning ‘boisterous and disorderly…’

Join us during Manchester Literature Festival month for a raucous afternoon of riotous tales about our tremendous regional writers, and the loved – and loathed – characters they’ve created. And, of course, indulge in home-made cake and our House-blend tea or fresh filter coffee.

Bring friends, or prepare to make new ones, and hold tight to your china teacup as our feisty housekeeper regales you with stories about the area’s literary greats.

Enjoy lots of laughs, mouth-watering cake and a wealth of info about the North West’s celebrated writers, in the glorious surroundings of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House – the beautifully-restored home of the city’s most famous Victorian novelist.

Price includes an entry ticket to the House (which lasts for a year) tea/coffee and cake. Tickets will go on sale in August.

Gossip, guffaws and goodies guaranteed.

Wed 16th Oct 2pm - 3.30pm
