First Edition Thursdays: Art Treasures of the UK from the Manchester Exhibition

Visitors during autumn will get an extra special treat, as our volunteers will be showcasing a different rare book from our collections store every week.

This huge catalogue book lists the works of a blockbuster exhibition held in Manchester in 1857. Come and find out what the Victorian middle classes, including the Gaskell circle, were doing in their leisure time.

Available free as part of your usual visit, book any afternoon slot (tickets valid for 12 months).

Gift £10 to Celebrate 10 years.

Keeping Elizabeth Gaskell’s House open to the public remains a real financial challenge. Our incredible team needs your help and support to continue the story long into the future. During our anniversary year we are asking our supporters to give £10 to support the House and to help us raise £10,000. You can make a donation via JustGiving.
