First Edition Thursdays: Round the Sofa
Visitors during autumn will get an extra special treat, as our volunteers will be showcasing a different rare book from our collections store every week.
This week’s is a rare first edition of an Elizabeth Gaskell short story collection, Round the Sofa, originally published in Dickens’ Household Words. On this Thursday our volunteer can tell you of Elizabeth Gaskell’s difficulty being paid fairly for her work.
Available free as part of your usual visit, book any afternoon slot (tickets valid for 12 months).
