Sketching Elizabeth Gaskell’s House

**Sorry this workshop has sold out – dates for 2020 will be added soon **

Join us for our perennially popular day workshop in sketching.

Have you ever wanted to record your memories of a visit using your own sketches and illustrations?

Our much-loved workshop, led by urban sketcher Liz Ackerley, will teach you how to capture special places using pen, pencil, watercolour and other simple materials in a sketchbook. From drawing special items like lamps and furniture, to details, features and views, this day workshop will give you the skills and tools to get started, in the delightful historic setting of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. As well as creating line drawings, textures, and adding creative colour, you will also have fun recording your visit in a sketchbook, and will take away useful tips and tricks for future sketching.

And during this mid-summer workshop, you’ll have the chance (weather permitting!) to get out into the glorious garden for inspiration too.

Liz Ackerley is an urban sketcher and reportage illustrator, who loves to convey a sense of place and occasion in her drawings. She runs workshops from her studio and in various venues. She works to commission for a variety of private and commercial clients, and recently produced two illustrations of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, one of which is used on the House Christmas Card. She records events and activities as they happen, including sketching weddings for clients, and loves to record the world around her in sketchbooks.
