Exclusive access to the award winning garden at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is included in our wedding package. Your guests can enjoy our south-facing garden and shaded lawn, a peaceful oasis in the heart of Manchester.
Drinks receptions in the garden
The garden is an ideal space for your drinks reception. Enjoy some time strolling around the House with a glass of fizz whilst catching up with your guests.
The photo opportunities are endless and there is sure to be something in bloom all year round! We have a rose-covered pergola, an archway crowned with wisteria and an array of beautiful flowers and shrubs. Our garden is carefully curated by a dedicated team of volunteers and is sure to be the perfect backdrop.
We have a variety of lawn games available to entertain your guests and gazebos can be hired for an additional fee if required. These can provide some much needed shade for your guests and musicians.
Packages and prices
We offer a 3-hour wedding package. In our experience, this is the perfect amount of time for your ceremony, drinks reception and photographs.
This is priced at £1,450 (Mondays and Tuesdays) or £1,850 (Fridays and Saturdays).

“We had a wonderful wedding day at this historic and intimate venue. The staff were amazing in the lead up to the big day and helped us organise all the details to make it a really special occasion. The venue really suited the personal wedding that we wanted with our close family. The drawing room for the ceremony is a lovely space with big windows and a piano, and the rest of the house has beautiful spaces to spend time and have pictures taken. The garden is great to enjoy drinks and have more wedding pictures. We would highly recommend using EGH as a wedding venue.
