Exclusive access to the award winning garden at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is included in all of our wedding packages. This oasis in the heart of Manchester is ideal if you’ve been dreaming of an outdoor wedding.
Ceremonies in the garden
We are licensed to hold weddings in our garden for up to 36 people. This includes the couple and 34 guests. Your guests will be seated on our shaded lawn, enjoying the benefits of our south-facing garden. You can still enjoy a dramatic entrance as you walk around the House and up a central aisle.
Of course, outdoor weddings are weather dependent. If Manchester lets you down, we will move your ceremony into the Drawing Room.
Drinks receptions in the garden
The garden is also an ideal space for your drinks reception. Enjoy some time strolling around the House whilst enjoying a glass of fizz with your guests.
The photo opportunities are countless, and there is sure to be something in bloom all year round! We have a rose-covered pergola, an archway crowned with wisteria and an array of beautiful flowers and shrubs. Our garden is carefully curated by a dedicated team of volunteers and is sure to be the perfect backdrop for your shots.
We have a variety of lawn games available to entertain your guests and gazebos can be hired for an additional fee if required. These can provide some much needed shade for your guests and musicians.
Packages and pricing
We offer a 3 or 5 hour package and additional hours can be booked on top of this.
In our experience, 3 hours is the perfect amount of time for your ceremony, drinks reception and photographs. Our 5-hour package allows for all of the above as well as time for a wedding breakfast. Extra hours can be added if you wish to hold your full reception with us.
Spring/summer 2025 prices for a 3-hour package start from £1,050 (midweek) and £1,200 (weekends).
