First Edition Thursdays: Sylvia’s Lovers
Visitors during autumn will get an extra special treat, as our volunteers will be showcasing a different rare book from our collections store every week.

It may be set on the wrong side of the Pennines, but Sylvia’s Lovers is well-loved example of Elizabeth Gaskell’s novels. It may not be a first edition, but this lovely set has been restored recently and includes an interesting photo of Whitby harbour.
Available free as part of your usual visit, book any afternoon slot (tickets valid for 12 months).
Thursday 30 October, 1:30pm- 3pm
Gift £10 to Celebrate 10 years.
Keeping Elizabeth Gaskell’s House open to the public remains a real financial challenge. Our incredible team needs your help and support to continue the story long into the future. During our anniversary year we are asking our supporters to give £10 to support the House and to help us raise £10,000. You can make a donation via JustGiving.
