Books & Gifts
We sell a selection of new and second-hand books, including the majority of books and short stories published by Elizabeth Gaskell and those written about her.
Gifts and souvenirs available include an exclusive Elizabeth Gaskell’s House tea towels, tote bags, quill pens, china mugs, fridge magnets and postcards.
We also run a second-hand book sale every second Sunday of the month where we bring out additional stock that fills two rooms. As well as literature we also have excellent art and architecture books, walking and topography, history, craft and DIY books and a large number of OS maps. Entry to the second-hand book sale is included in your entrance fee.
All proceeds raised in the sale of second-hand books goes towards the running of Elizabeth Gaskell’s House. Donations of good quality books are very welcome but please call in advance to let us know you are coming. We are particularly in need of classics and contemporary fiction in good condition.
