FRIENDS EVENT: “A Literary Society and its Museum”

A “conversation” between Professor Michael Slater and Anthony Burton.

The  Dickens Fellowship is 115 years old and the Charles Dickens Museum is  92 years old. Professor Michael Slater has been involved in both since 1967, having served as President of the Fellowship and Chairman of the Museum’s Trustees.

Anthony has persuaded Michael to make the journey north  to come to Elizabeth Gaskell’s House, as did Dickens himself, so many years ago. Michael will be in conversation with Anthony, “sharing memories of picturesque trustees, eccentric curators and the tangled relationship between Fellowship and Museum”. This is sure to be an interesting conversation, and perhaps we may learn  something from our more venerable counterparts.

Tickets are £8 per person and includes refreshments after the talk.
This will be followed by tea , coffee and our usual selection of delicious home-made cakes.

If you do not wish to book online via the link below you can send a cheque made payable to MHBT  to Mrs Margo Singer, 14 Silverdale Road, Chorlton, M 21 0SH – or email textileart@margosinger.co.uk
