What's On

International Women’s Day 2026

Celebrate International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month with our range of in-person and online events.

We will be showcasing a range of books from our collection, all written by pioneering women, many of them hidden in history’s footnotes. The textile art created by the Trailblazing Stitching group will also be on display, including banners and tapestry hoops that celebrate trailblazing women connected with Greater Manchester.

Plus, nominate your favourite influential women on our Feminist Doodle of Fame!

Discover our Women’s History Trail with our free digital guide and explore the women’s histories connected to the objects in our collection.

If you can’t visit us in person, you can still join us online.

On Wednesday 18 March, I Blame the Mother will compare Elizabeth Gaskell’s own experience of motherhood with that of her classic novels, including Wives and Daughters and Ruth.

We also have over 50 on-demand talks available through our online shop, celebrating Elizabeth’s life, works, and the pioneering women she was connected to.
