The Women who said YES!
Find out about the 17 women who stood for Parliament in the General Election held on 14 December 1918 in our latest temporary exhibition.
Created by a group of volunteers in 2018, this exhibition explores the political complexities of 1918, the Empire, the end of the war and the involvement of women in local and national politics.
The 17 women featured range from an anti-suffrage woman, Violet Markham – to a long-standing suffrage activist, Emmeline Pethick Lawrence – to Norah Dacre Fox, a former suffragette and a fascist sympathiser.
This exhibition has previously toured the People’s History Museum and The Houses of Parliament. It was researched and produced by Ali Ronan, Jill Woodward, Jane Ward, Hilary Chuter and Lizzie Gent.
Included in admission to the House.
