Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is a literary house and museum in Manchester.

It offers a hands-on experience that will introduce you to the world of the writer Elizabeth Gaskell and her family through historic rooms, Victorian style garden, expert guides and changing exhibitions. 

Opening times

Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. 11-4.30pmStrictly last admission at 3pm

Tea Room closes for visitors at 4pm.

Pre-booked private group tours and school visits available on other days.

Please try to book online in advance where possible. Tickets can be booked up to a month in advance.
Payment on the door is by card payment only.

Admission Charges

Standard admission: £8.50 
Students/NHS Staff/visitors with disabilities/registered unemployed: £7.50
Children under 16: Free, when accompanied by an adult.
Registered Carers Free – please bring proof.

National Art Pass holders: £4.25 – please show your pass when you arrive.
Free entry to Historic House members – membership cards must be shown on entry.
