Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is a literary house and museum in Manchester.
It offers a hands-on experience that will introduce you to the world of the writer Elizabeth Gaskell and her family through historic rooms, Victorian style garden, expert guides and changing exhibitions.
Opening times
Open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday* via timed entry from 11am until 3pm.
House closes at 4.30pm following last entry at 3pm. Tea Room closes for visitors at 4pm.

*Subject to volunteer numbers entry on Sundays may be by guided tour only.
Pre-booked private group tours and school visits available on other days.
Please book online in advance. Tickets can be booked up to a month in advance.

Standard admission: £9

Children under 16: Free, when accompanied by a paying adult.
Essential companions: Free
National Art Pass holders: £4.50 – please show your pass when you arrive.
Free entry to Historic House members – membership cards must be shown on entry.
