National Poetry Day
Enjoy some well-loved poetry in one of the country’s most beautiful literary houses on National Poetry Day!
Discover a selection of poems that were loved by Elizabeth Gaskell on display in the elegantly-restored period rooms of the House.
Will it be Wordsworth in the Study, or Bamford in the Dining Room? Charlotte Bronte in the Drawing Room or Tennyson in the Morning Room? Come along and enjoy reading Elizabeth’s favourite poetry in her former home.
Take a look at our John Ruskin exhibition, and listen to some Lancashire dialect verse in William Gaskell’s study too, and indulge in a lovely literary interlude on National Poetry Day!
