: Creative Writing Workshop: Experimental Writing

Join us for a writing workshop on experimental writing, where you'll examine a selection of experimental texts before having a go at writing your own piece of work. You'll find inspiration in the words and household objects on display in the House, and use these as the basis of a piece of exciting and innovative text. : Creative Writing Workshop: Poetry

Spaces still available on other months ***   Be inspired by the history of Elizabeth Gaskell's House, and write some original poetry based on your engagement with the objects and information displayed in our exhibition, Household Commotion. In this two-hour evening workshop, we will look at existing poetry before writing our own, inspired by a close inspection of the lives, the household tools and the everyday experiences of the House's below-stairs occupants.

: Remembrance Sunday Poetry Reading

Join us in the Dining Room at 12.30pm for a short poetry reading to mark the centenary of the Armistice and to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom.
