8 March 2018 -International Women’s Day – saw the Manchester renamed as ‘Womanchester’ for the day and at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House we encouraged visitors to have a go at calligraphy with artists Joyce Lee; listen and debate with Dr Diane Duffy (one of our volunteers) in the drawing Room about whether Elizabeth Gaskell was a feminist; and finally our Sewing Bee ladies met in the Servant’s Hall for their usual weekly sew-together and to celebrate the last day of our Manchester Quilt Exhibition. A busy and fun day had by all. A big thank you to all involved.
We are enjoying a wonderful #InternationalWomenDay2018 @GaskellsHouse in #Womanchester – lots of debates, discussions and activities from our visitors and volunteers pic.twitter.com/XQRFZdfDMs
