We are very excited to introduce a new leader for our monthly Plymouth Grove Writing Group; the writer and Anne Brontë expert, Nick Holland.
Nick will be leading our monthly group which meets every fourth Thursday of the month (2-3pm) and is looking forward to be inspired by both the house and the group itself. His first group session will meet on Thursday 26 November.
“It is a great honour for me to teach creative writing in the house Elizabeth Gaskell once called her own – it is a truly inspirational place to meet and I can’t wait to get started. I am passionate about creative writing and hope to share my own experiences within publishing.”
On a recent Tweet Nick commented “Charlotte Brontë once hid behind the curtains at @GaskellsHouse but don’t worry, I won’t do the same when I’m leading the creative writing group there!”
Nick Holland is the author of an acclaimed biography of the youngest Brontë, ‘In Search of Anne Bronte‘which was called ‘an excellent book full of passion and pathos’ by the Mail on Sunday”. His biography of Guy Fawkes, ‘The Real Guy Fawkes’ is being released by Pen & Sword Books later this year, and in 2018 he has two books being released: a biography of Emily Bronte from The History Press and a biography of the Bronte’s Aunt Branwell from Pen & Sword. And in 2019 his book about 17th century cause celebre Mary Frith (aka Moll Cutpurse) is also being published. He is also the author of children’s novel Tortoise Soup and of the 2007 novel The Girl On The Bus that sold over 50,000 copies and which allowed him to become a full time writer. He plans to return to fiction next year. You can read his blog annebronte.org and following him on twitter @Nick_Holland_
