I’m continuing with my round up of 2024 weddings and this blog is all about style!

Dress to impress

All of our couples are able to come into the House the afternoon before their wedding day to get things set up and decorated. We also advise that they bring their outfits for the big day so that everything is on-site and ready for them to change into in the morning. Our couples can use Elizabeth’s bedroom to get ready and we absolutely love seeing dresses hanging in the room waiting to be put on.

We are always impressed when the couple’s choices align with the style and feel of the House itself. One of our favourites from 2024 was Laura & Liam’s April wedding. Laura wore a stunning dress by Rixo Bridal with subtle floral designs. Liam opted for a classic navy suit and blue floral tie which complemented Laura’s dress perfectly! They combined this with some beautifully simple white flowers by Didsbury Flower Lounge and their fantastic photographer, Lauren Elliott, captured some of our favourite wedding photos of the year. She even took them across the road to Swinton Grove Park to capture some pictures with the blossom.

We can’t mention outfits without talking about Paula & Karl. Theirs was certainly our most colourful wedding of 2024! Although Paula wore white, she went for an bold red shoe and a necklace spelling the word LOVE, perfect for a wedding. To top it off, she changed her glasses to match her different outfits throughout the day – iconic!

Deck the halls

We love getting creative and helping our couples decorate the house. For many, this goes beyond flowers as they like to add some extra wedding touches!

Kelsey & Dan did an incredible job decorating the Drawing Room and Servants’ Hall. They used some simple muslin and dried flowers to create a cosy space for their ceremony and celebrations in August.

Another memorable one was Ursula & Mark’s wedding in June. The couple asked their children to decorate jam jars which they placed in the centre of the tables and filled with some beautiful blooms by Victoria at Blue Door Flowers. The cherry on top was the 20 meters of bunting made by the bride herself with William Morris style fabric. Ursula kindly donated this to us for other couples to use at their weddings and it was recently hired by Ellen & Josh. We love the spirit of sustainability that many of our couples have embraced this year.
